Child Rights, Classroom and School Management
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child lays down that all children
have a right to a school education, to have their views heard and to
active participation in the community. In reality there are many
developing countries in which the children are among the weakest and the
most vulnerable. The right to an education that may give them a future
as responsible, active citizens in a living democracy is far from
self-evident. Sida and the University of Lund work through the
international programme “Child Rights, Classroom and School Management”,
which spreads knowledge of Rights of the Child to teachers, school
principals and school authorities in the Third World. More knowledge and
concrete initiatives sow the seeds of democratic development which has
given thousands of schoolchildren a better life.
