New course on Digital Technology in your Course and Programme Design

En grafisk bild för kursen Digital Technology in your programme

A short workshop series to critically review the use of digital tools in teaching.

Who is this series for?

This short workshop series is designed for directors of study, programme leaders and directors, or anyone involved in the design of first or second cycle courses at LU. It is intended to help you to think critically about the use of digital technologies to support teaching and assessment, and to support discussions in your teams about whether, when, and how to include digital tools to support teaching.

Why review the use of technology in teaching?

For this course, we are assuming that the purpose of technology in teaching is to improve the educational experiences of both students and teachers. The workshops encourage you to consider this in a strategic way, to ensure that your current use of digital tools is achieving what you want, and to see if there are any gaps you might like to fill.

How does it work?

The series is designed to be easy for busy colleagues to participate in. The material for the series is mostly online, with five optional webinars which introduce each of the four modules and provide a wrapping up session to discuss what we have learned and what the next steps should be.

There is a short introduction which takes around half an hour to work through, followed by four modules which will each take 1-3 hours to complete, depending on whether you choose to do all of the activities. The first three modules cover different reasons for including digital technologies in their programme, and the fourth has practical suggestions for planning implementation for the programme team.

The language of the series is English and attendance at the series is free.

Intended outcomes

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • decide whether to use digital technologies in your programme or course
  • decide which digital technologies will be effective in enhancing your programme or course
  • prepare a short reflection on your approach which can be added to a teaching or promotion portfolio (optional)

When will it run?

There will be three face to face workshops:

Session 1: Friday 3 March 2023, at 10:00–12:00
Introducing the reasons for using digital tools in programme and course design.
See calendar event.

Session 2: Friday 24 March 2023, at 10:00-12:00
