Support for preventing cheating and promoting academic integrity

Lund University has developed support material to help teaching staff work preventively with academic integrity in teaching and examination.

The material includes

  • videos explaining academic integrity and common challenges
  • exercises and workshop material for teaching and dialogue
  • tools to help students understand what is and is not permitted.

The material can be used both in course planning and in discussions with students. The material is available in both Swedish and English and has been made available by the libraries at LU. Contact your faculty library if you have any questions about the material.

Pilot project on preventive work against cheating

In autumn 2022, the university launched a pilot project with the aim of strengthening preventive work against cheating in examinations. The material in Canvas Commons is part of the result of the project. The material was developed in collaboration with the Department of Political Science and the Medical Programme.

The project also showed that

  • preventive work requires more than information – practice and dialogue are key
  • society must be able to trust that a degree reflects actual knowledge
  • teachers want clear support: both in teaching and when cheating is suspected
  • preventive work is an educational issue, not a disciplinary one.
