Digital tools for managing assessment

Staff and students at Lund University have access to digital tools that can be used for assessment. These include tools for graded assessment as well as tools for informal quizzes and self-reflection.

Canvas

Canvas includes various features that you can use to manage assessment, such as assignments, quizzes and discussions. These features can be used for both graded examinations and formative assessment throughout the course. They enable you to structure assessment components, clarify criteria and provide continuous and varied feedback.

Inspera

Inspera is a tool primarily used to create and administer digital exams in the classroom, but it can also be used for remote exams. Inspera restricts students’ access to other software on the same device.

Mentimeter

Mentimeter can be used for informal quizzes either in the classroom or remotely. However, Mentimeter cannot be used for graded assignments. This is because it does not offer a secure way of linking students to their submissions.

Padlet

Padlet is a tool primarily used to create digital collaborative spaces, but it can also be used individually, for example, to plan a longer assignment. Padlet can be useful if the work process forms part of the assessment criteria. It can, for example, be used to create a logbook or essay plan that is easy to follow.
