Canvas

The Canvas course platform is suitable as a complement to teaching, both on campus and remotely. With Canvas, you can

• structure your entire course content with text, images, videos and documents
• engage your students through discussion and quizzes
• record teaching videos
• receive and provide feedback on assignments and exams.

You can also create opportunities for your students to, for example, record presentations or peer review each other's material for feedback.

Start using Canvas

You log in to Canvas with your Lucat ID, which you receive when you are employed by the university.

Accessibility

Canvas meets several technical requirements for accessibility. For example, users can choose to set their own preferences for

• higher contrast
• fonts for dyslexia
• underlined links.

In addition, teaching staff can test every piece of written text and published image, using the accessibility check function.

You can also use Ally, which is an accessibility tool that is integrated into Canvas. Ally supports teachers in creating accessible material and gives users on Canvas access to alternative formats of the material. Follow the link to read more about Ally.

Digital tools linked to Canvas

It is possible to link various digital tools to Canvas, but we urge caution if you initiate a purchase yourself through your department or faculty. The tools that have already been procured for the learning platform via Lund University comply with the legal requirements regarding accessibility, personal data, information security, archiving and so on. Choosing a tool yourself requires a great deal of responsibility: you must have a plan for the tool and be prepared to finance the purchase yourself.
